Description

La Conquina: Our offer differs from a classic campsite and offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in silence and establish deep contact with the forest and with yourself. Where are we? We are located on the promontory that connects Baratti and Piombino and is dotted with dirt roads from which you can make excursions to the sea by bike and/or on foot. We are 5 minutes from the main road, so you can easily move along the coast and inland. Our policy: Our intention and goal is to offer a tourist stay option that is different from the usual offers and allows you to travel with minimal impact on the place and its resources. Therefore, every aspect of your stay in this place will be an incentive and an example through which you can get to know a different way of life. Water: The water available for washing and cleaning is obtained entirely from rainfall or drawn from the neighboring well. This predisposes us to consider water as a very precious resource and to use it wisely, especially in summer when it does not rain and the underground aquifers tend to carry less water. In fact, the shower is marked by a 2-minute hourglass (you’ll find that two minutes of running water is a lot!). Eco-friendly homemade solid soap is provided for the shower and coffee, vinegar and homemade enzymatic dishwashing liquid for the dishes. Electricity: La Conquina is completely self-sufficient from an energy point of view and has an island photovoltaic system, which allows for lower consumption compared to conventional power supplies. The system supports the charging of cell phones, PCs, batteries for electric bicycles and other low-voltage devices. The classic refrigerator is not available, but we have an „old“ invention at our disposal: Cooling in the well (see photo). Composting toilet: The bathroom is dry, no water is used for flushing, but liquids are separated from solids so that the waste can be reused to nourish and regenerate the earth (see photo). Conscious shopping: Our friends and neighbors are happy to offer you excellent seasonal products from the region, such as Marco’s wine, Michele’s fermented products and Vale’s vegetables. Facilities: Our accommodation has a communal kitchen, dining area, bathroom (composting toilet) and shower. Wi-Fi and a basic charging service (see electricity section) and light are available. We offer two accommodation options, one in a glamping tent and one in a wooden house. The tent can accommodate a maximum of 3 people (it is equipped with a double bed and a single bed, so for families with 2 children it is possible that they share the single bed or that one of them sleeps in the double bed) and the house can accommodate a maximum of 2 people. Breakfast service every morning: We are happy to prepare the various breakfast suggestions for you; we only use regional products, most of which come from our own production (see photo). In addition, two evenings a week you will have the opportunity to enjoy Simo’s excellent dinners, which will introduce you to his international cuisine with reinterpreted traditional dishes. What is there to do in the area? A few kilometers from the property there are all the main services (pharmacy, gas station, grocery and tobacco store, supermarkets). We recommend that you get a map of the promontory to discover the thousand secluded coves that this area offers. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Gulf of Baratti early in the morning or at sunset in the evening and enjoy its enchanting pine forest during the warmer hours. Visit villages such as Suvereto, Sassetta, Campiglia Marittima and Populonia Alta. ITA: Our accommodation offer differs from a classic campsite and the opportunity to immerse yourself in silence and have deep contact with the forest and its inhabitants. How do we know that? The site is located on a promontory between Baratti and Piombino and is surrounded by a paved road from which you can go on excursions by bike or on foot to reach the sea. Once there, we are 5 minutes from the main road, allowing us to move gently along the coast and back inland. Our business policy: Our intention and goal is to provide a tourist accommodation option that is different from some consumer proposals and that allows us to travel with minimal means on the spot and on our resources. In the face of all hopes of permanence in this space, we are given an incentive and an example of how we can live in a different way. Water: the water intended for flushing and rinsing is carefully washed or lifted out of the tap. This is meant to treat the water as a precious resource and consume it with avarice, especially when the puddles are present and the covered ceiling leans towards the gate. In fact, the doctor will ring a bell after 2 minutes (it is reported that running water flows for two minutes!). Solid, eco-friendly, homemade soap is used for cooking, and homemade enzyme jelly is used for cooking coffee, vinegar and soap. Electricity: La Conquina is completely self-sufficient in energy from the viewpoint and has an isolated photovoltaic system, allowing for lower consumption on classic electric furniture. The battery powers cell phones, PCs, electric bike batteries and other low-voltage devices. The classic refrigerator is not available, but we have incorporated an „old“ invention: cooling in a pot (see photo). Composting toilet: The bath is dry, so no water is used to separate liquids from solids, allowing the soil to be nourished and regenerated. (View photo) We wish you success in your purchase: our friends and neighbors are happy to offer you the best seasonal products such as Marco’s wine, Michele’s ferments and the green of the Vale. Services: Our accommodation includes a communal kitchen, dining area, bathroom (composting toilet) and shower. There is also Wi-Fi and a basic emergency call service (see electricity connection) as well as light. We offer the possibility to stay overnight, once in a glamping tent and once in a wooden house. The Tenda can accommodate a maximum of 3 people (there is a double bed and a single bed if it is a family with 2 children, it is possible to split the single bed or one of their beds in the double bed) and the Casetta for a maximum of 2 people. Pick-up service whenever we are ready to prepare the various cooking proposals. We only use local products, most of our production (see photos) In addition, during the first 2 weeks there is the possibility of testing the oxen prepared by Simo, who will teach him his international culinary art with traditionally prepared dishes. What could be better than food? A few kilometers from the site, all the main services are available (pharmacies, traders, food and tobacco stores, supermarkets). We recommend that you get a map of the foothills to discover the thousand little hills that make up this royal territory. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Gulf of Baratti, the languor of the night or the glow and warmth of its enchanting pine forest in the cold season. Visit villages such as Suvereto, Sassetta, Campiglia Marittima and Populonia Alta. Remember to make a trip to Elba, the port is a few kilometers away :) Other beautiful beaches are Rimigliano and La Sterpaia.
