Description

Camping by a lake with your own sandy beach This is a unique family campsite in a region full of variety in the north of the Netherlands. There are polders, woods, towns and villages all around you, making it the perfect place to cycle or walk! And with the Zuidlaardermeer lake next to Meerwijck Campsite, it’s the ideal location for water sports enthusiasts. There is plenty to do on the campsite for all ages; many games and activities are organised for the children. These take place outdoors in good weather, but there is also plenty to do indoors. On the border with Drenthe Whether you are a water baby, a keen angler or a beach lover, you are at the right place here on the Zuidlaardermeer lake with its lovely sandy beach. But that’s not the only thing that makes this campsite so special. The site is actually in the province of Groningen, but right on the border with the province of Drenthe, so you can get to know both provinces easily from Campsite Meerwijck. You will come across charming villages, beautiful countryside and lively towns. Whatever the weather Swimming, sailing, fishing and water sports. Or just sunbathing on the beach while the children build sandcastles, there is plenty of fun in the water in and around the campsite. If it’s a bit cloudy and feels a little fresh outside, just go to the indoor swimming pool. The water is 1m 40 deep and always around 29 degrees. There is plenty of room for games in the water, and of course the long slide is always popular! The very youngest can splash around in the toddlers‘ pool. I am a mole and I live in a hole Meet the characters from the Dutch children’s book ‚Hol van de Mol‘ which is similar to ‚Wind in the Willows‘. They will take the children on an adventure, such as treasure hunts on the beach or scavenger hunts in the woods. Creative minds can conjure up lovely things in the craft studio or tasty treats in the cooking café. When the weather is not so good, everything is organised in the Kids Club; family games, children’s bingo or a disco. There’s always something to do! Discover the north of the country From extensive polders to shaded woods; meadows where sheep graze and charming Drenthe villages. The surrounding area invites you to go on a wonderful walking or cycling trip. The campsite has made the most of this and has marked out several routes that are suitable for the whole family. You will get a good impression of this lovely and varied region right from the campsite. Two capitals Want to visit a city for the day? The capital of Groningen is just twenty kilometres from the campsite. Climb the Martini Tower and enjoy views over the city. Wander through the relaxing courtyards or enjoy some freshly fried fish on the Vismarkt (Fish Market). And of course there is some great shopping! The Drenthe capital of Assen is also great for a day out. Marina If you have your own boat, you can moor it at the campsite’s marina. So you can sail directly onto the lake and enjoy your hobby every day. There are several sailing routes which will take you through the varying countryside. You can also reach the town by boat. If you have a sailing permit, but not your own boat, you can rent one at one of the places indicated.
