Description

A holiday among castles In the heart of the Loire Valley, you can explore majestic castles while your kids have a blast at the campsite’s water park. Camping La Grande Tortue offers the perfect setting for an unforgettable family holiday. Here, culture meets fun, with plenty of activities to entertain both young and old. Many castles are just a short drive away, and the kids will love splashing in the pool or playing in the playground.   A wonderful setting Nestled in a beautiful forest between the cities of Tours and Orléans, the campsite is ideally located. The medieval town of Blois is just fifteen minutes away and is home to a stunning château. And let’s not forget the Loire River, perfect for cycling or a peaceful walk along its banks. Surrounded by lakes and woodlands, this is truly a delightful spot for a relaxing holiday.   Water fun and dry land adventures At Camping La Grande Tortue primarily, there’s a water paradise waiting for hours of splashing fun. The aqua park includes waterslides, a covered pool, and an outdoor pool. Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub, climbing through the water playground, or zooming down the slides, there’s something for everyone. Kids can also enjoy plenty of fun on dry land. There’s a playground with trampolines and a rope pyramid to climb, and for the little ones aged two to six, a fenced-in play area ensures safe fun. Looking for a unique adventure? Explore the Loire by canoe or kayak – just ask at reception where to rent one.   Dining at the ‘Sunbeams’ After a successful day in the outdoors, nothing is better than a good meal. And one you don’t have to make yourself. For this, you can visit the campsite’s restaurant Rayons du Soleil (sunbeams) where you can eat in a relaxed atmosphere. Local and international dishes are on the menu. Enjoy a cocktail or an ice cream on the terrace. The restaurant also serves breakfast and takeaway meals. Buy that delicious French baguette in the morning at the campsite shop. Here they also have products for your daily shopping.   Castles, castles, and a donkey adventure When you think of the Loire, you think of castles – and rightly so. With over 140 in the region, you’ll have plenty to choose from. Start your castle tour at the fairytale Château de Chenonceau, which stretches elegantly over the water. Then head to Amboise and Clos Lucé, before continuing through Blois and Chambord and ending at Sully-sur-Loire. After a few castle visits, the kids might be ready for a break. How about a family walk with a donkey? It’s a fun and memorable way to explore the countryside. Or plan a day at ZooParc de Beauval, just 38 km from the campsite. With over 3,000 animals, it’s one of the largest and most impressive zoos in the world.
