Description

Beautiful spot between the Lauwersmeer and the Wadden Sea The Lauwersmeer on one side, the Wadden Sea on the other. This campsite in the north of the Netherlands is located in a beautiful spot. There is always something to do at Siblu Camping Lauwersoog. Especially for children: the large indoor playground and the water playground. Especially for you: the delicious food in restaurant Het Booze Wijf. This campsite in Groningen is the perfect starting point for a special seal expedition. You can also sail to Schiermonnikoog from the campsite. Between the Lauwersmeer and the Wadden Sea The Lauwersmeer used to be called the Lauwerszee. This sea was connected to the Waddenzee. The two lakes were only separated in 1969. The Lauwerszee was closed off with a long dyke because people were afraid of flooding. Much of the land became dry. The water that remained was called the Lauwersmeer. You can spend your vacation right on the spot where the dike was built. This is where Siblu Camping Lauwersoog is located. A pretty unique vacation spot in the far north of the Netherlands. Playing with water A seaside vacation is nothing without a dip in the water. So it's a good idea to pack your swimming trunks. For the children too, if only because of the lovely water playground. It's next to the restaurant. Here the children can climb, jump, slide and play with water. Which is also educational. Is the weather not good enough to play outside? Then they can quickly move to the large indoor playground. Restaurant Het Booze Wijf The campsite restaurant is named after the place where the Lauwersmeer and Waddenzee meet. At this point, the water was quite choppy and dangerous. That is why it was given the name 'The Wicked Woman'. You can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner at restaurant Het Booze Wijf. Bread platter, steak or fresh fish: almost all products come from the region. And it's handy: the terrace of Het Booze Wijf is right next to the playground. So you can easily keep an eye on your playing children. There is a pizza machine for a quick snack between meals. This means you can enjoy a hot pizza around the clock. Cycling along the Lauwersmeer The Lauwersmeer route is forty kilometers long and passes close to the campsite. You can rent various types of bicycles at the campsite. The route takes you past charming Groningen villages. You will be warmly welcomed in teahouses and pavement cafés. And of course you will cycle a large part along the water. So you will also see enough of the Lauwersmeer and the Wadden Sea. Spot seals and birds A seal expedition is a very special experience. Especially if you come across seals. There are many along the Dutch north coast, so the chances are good. And if not? Then just enjoy the wind in your face and the view. A day on Schiermonnikoog is also recommended. You can sail there from the campsite. Schiermonnikoog is a wonderfully quiet place, without cars, with beautiful dune areas and birdwatching spots. So take your binoculars and walk towards Westerplas, the place for birdwatchers.
